u got to remember that alot of these cars were bought and thrashed..
i just feel that u cannot get a genuine well looked after 1 for £14k..
there are still ones going for £19k.

Was speaking to the salesman in Macrae and Dick today and he said there was still a massive waiting list for approved used ford ones.

there was a guy selling a punto like that a couple of months back, dunno if he still is. Sad when people thrash their cars and try and fob them off on other people. think it was a green one that was for sale

diekund what the fcuk is youre problem..
and plus to tell u the truth that punto was sold with a brand new engine in it.but thats pretty rich coming from you that bought a car for £400 and are trying to flog it for a grand profit..

but back to the topic 14k..

no laffy your car did not have any new engine in it. My car i bought for £400 yes, but do u think it was roadworthy then? no, it was meant to cost around £1500 to repair at a garage so i think selling it for the price i was asking was perfectly acceptable.

also my problem is.... you

Agree with the skyline, its ugly but capable! Go for an older model though and get the GT-R.

The Focus RS in a fairly specialised car so many will have been looked after, although a car that has been designed to be fast you cant expect it to be driven lkike a granny everywhere, as long as it was maintained well then it should prove no problem :D

What about that ST you had an order all that time back?

 yeah I remember hearing about that ST Martyn

And in Jamies defence his car from what I have saw has had a lot of work done to it and at no point was the car on sale for over a grand profit.

Another thing to remember though is that even on a car of this potential you can't use the full performance very often.

As an example, I saw a Porsche Carrera GT this morning on the Perth bypass.
It was being driven at 70mph and when it pulled away from the roundabout it accelerated no quicker than a 1 litre Micra.

If you did the same for the Micra then you'd be travelling at 30mph and would pull away from the roundabout at jogging speed.

A small, low powered car is far more likely to be driven near the limit of what it can do, for more of the time than something like a Focus RS is.
Probably the biggest concern for the Focus would be if it had been on a track.

That is a very good point, since i got my 1.7 Puma i would say my driving has calmed down quite a lot because the limit of the car is far greater than that or my 1.1 Punto, and it would be stupid to find out what it could do on open public roads

It must be so difficult to restrain yourself in a faster car such as a 911 Gt2 or something if you are stuck on public roads, i know even when I take out my parents Mazda (think its a 1.8) i rip the arse outta it just to see what It can do - so can only imagine how long it would take me to kill myself If i always had a car faster than snails pace

You'd be surprised, for the first week or so of owning the Puma i did give it some welly, lead right foot comes to mind, but because its such a capable car the corner speeds you need to reach the limit are daft, and if anything went wrong then its going to be a big one! Plus the fact its YOUR car and not someone elses creeps into your mind when your driving quick.

I dont need to go very high in the revs to have fun in the puma 4-4.5k will do on a twisty country road

Guess so, if its your own car you wont rip the arse outta it.

Think that I'd opt for a Fabia VRS with my £14k, my next car is going to be a diesel and the Fabia Vrs seems to tick a lot of the boxes on my list so If i had a spare £14k id prob go for a nice VRS

im not getting a new car until i am 25 (for insurance purposes), so im either gonna have a used Focus RS, or a new Grande Punto Abarth (The 240bhp one if they get round to making it)

And that is expected to be around £18,000 so £13,000 for a Punto is nothing!

And if you get that VRs chipped............... :smt023
