Almost there with my window closure installation. i was gonna get someone to fit it for me but they quoted me £65+VAT!!! The thing only cost £24! Anyway, according to David he says the following:

"RED - +12v feed. Just below right of the steering wheel you have removed a panel, here is where most wires from the engine bay enter the car. On the black panel there are couple of red connectors and above that a row of 8 wires. Of those 8, the right most wire should be thick plain RED, strip and use this. If you know of a better place then use it, but I didn't."

I need to locate this. Can anyway confirm that the wire Im looking for is gonna be really thick, ie as thick as a pen say. The one iv found is really thick but just wondered if that is the correct one before i strip it and check. Thanks in advance.

I did this last weekend, this wire is pretty easy to find but it is not THAT thick!
There is a horizontal row of 8 wires that go into a black and white connector block and it's the right hand one of those
Hope this helps

I think that iv found it. How will i know? Iv stripped it back a little to get access to the wire. Am i wrong in thinking that if i check it with a meter then i will just get a 12v constant signal or will i have to press something to get a signal from the wire?

Thanks jay, ill try that. It should work now, just unsure of my bros soldering. He assures me its top class....

FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

Iv now wired up my total window closure but it doesnt work! Everything works perfectly as it did except that the windows dont shut on remote locking. Is this a problem with my earth or permanent 12v live??? If everything else works ok am i crazy in thinking that it cant be anything complicated??? Thanks in advance

burno, which wire on the car's harness did you use for your signal. it should be a wire that is negative when the doors are locked. when i wired mine, it worked with RCL.

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

Yeah the same RCL wire, the yellow one one the left hand side. Iv read that you have to put your windows down b4 connecting your unit - I know that you said it made no difference in your post - but ill try that and see if it makes a difference. Asides from that all i can think of is to change the premanent feed wire to something else. What else can i try asides from stripping and checking: cig lighter, radio, etc???

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

ran a new cable from the battery, or tap into the stereo's perm live.

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

I had a little trouble finding a permanant feed when i done mine...

I ran a wire directly from the battery to ensure everything was working, until i got my bro's multimeter to check for certain...

Also when i fitted mine, i had to put the windows right down for it to work (if i plugged it in with the windows 1/4 way open, the unit would leave the windows 3/4 of the way open from fully open), but when i fitted one on my mate's Mazda it didnt matter, so there may be two models about (ours looked the same).

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

Just to say thanks Jay for your help with this problem. Its now completely sorted and I only blew 3 fuses in the process! If I started it again knowing what I know now I could probably fit it in about 40 mins. And to think a company wanted £82 to fit it 'cause they needed a +/- inverter! Im pretty sure they just made that part up!

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

hey dude, I'm interested in this.
what exactly does it do and where did you get the kit from ?

Re: FAO: Anyone who fitted total window closure

From memory it costs around £25 from Maplins.

When you arm your alarm, it closes your windows for you...:)
