Hi guys,

Basically as mentioned in the title I'm having issues with the famous M32 Gearbox :( So my 06 m-jet is coming up to 99,000 miles on the clock and 2 weeks ago the clutch failed whilst I was out driving, my clutch pedal was on the floor and there was no pressure there, I had the car recovered to my local garage - and had the slave cyclinder, clutch release bearing etc and also the flywheel replaced.

I got the car back a week on Saturday and I found that when I was putting the car into 3rd gear it would grind in, however when I let the rev's drop to around 1k and then put it into 3rd it slots in fine.

I took the car back to my garage and explained and they diagnosed it as the gearcable (forwards and backwards) they told me they would order the part in and I'd only have to pay for the part and not the labour, so yesterday they fitted the cable and I went to pick the car up, they told me they took the cable off because it hadn't solved the issue, so they told me that they'd spoke to a gearbox place and they'd advised to change the oil in the hope that the syncro's would match up as the oil may provide more friction.

Anyways I picked the car up tonight and the guy said give it a couple of days for things to settle in the gearbox, however since getting the car back things seem to have gotten worse with the gearbox. I'm starting to fall out of love with care and quite frankly want rid of it..

Can anyone please advise me on how much I'd be looking at for the gearbox to either have the synchro's replaced or a rebuild.

Thanks :(

Sounds like your gearbox is dying. I got a replacement one for a little over £500 from a scrappy, I'm not sure about labour as a mechanic friend did it for me and replaced the clutch and flywheel at the same time. I think all 3 parts and labour came to roughly £1200

Yeah I think this whole scenario will end up costing me around that in total, already dished out 560 quid to have my whole clutch system and flywheel replaced now the gearbox, I am tempted to just get my synchro's replaced but I keep thinking what's the point in just getting that done when I can potentially get a full rebuild for around 500 quid...

Hi, about 6 months ago i had my gearbox fail on me and had to get a refurbished box i paid 475 fitted with a new clutch, granted i only have a 1.4 8v gp and that might be why that price look so steep to me but i thought id give you details of the company i bought mine from in case they also stock the gearbox you are after. They specialise in reconditioned fiat boxs. Here is there ebay page hope it helps.
