Technical 1.9 multijet engine replacement.

I’m looking to replace the engine in my Fiat multipla that I’ve just bought as a non runner following a timing belt snap.

Question I’ve got is that I suspect the exact engine was used in other models such as the bravo and that I could buy one and swap all the ancillary’s as well as the sump and driveshaft counter bracket over to another one.

However the engine codes are diffrent to that of a Fiat bravo being (192A8.000) and the multipla being (186A8000)

wondered if this would indicate just a diffrence In ancillary’s and Multipla specific bolt on parts or would mean there’s diffrences in the engine block all together.

I suspect the block is basically similar looking at some of the specs. in technical manual, but the newer bravo 192A8000 uses a different ECU and I suspect that is to do with injector design between unijet and multijet, whether it is simply a case of fitting the older injectors if possible and using existing ECU job to tell. You could try seeing if gasket sets are interchangeable a a rough guide. I have the basic details in Technical Service Data manuals, but nothing to confirm one way or another.
In the past I have tried fitting engines for customers that they supplied claiming to be same vehicle (not Fiat) and turned out to be a nightmare.
There is more detail on Wikipedia but this is a little :-Compared to the first-generation JTD engines (Unijet system), which only featured a smaller pilot and a larger main injection, Multijet is capable of up to five injections per combustion cycle which enables better, more efficient cold running, better...

Sorry I have migraine and have mixed things up. There was 8valve Multijet.

Pretty sure you should have multijet in 2008 -badge on boot lid should be jtdm.
186a9000 engine code?

Anyway as long as you get a replacement 8v 1.9 multijet from similar age manual gearbox any ancillary components should swap over if required.

186A8000 is classic 1.9 JTD 8v 115hp Unijet. Some JTD 110/115 will work but engine support could be different and latest 115 had some sensor change, so try check main sensors before or buy prior to 2003-2004.

Hi there.

Thank you for the correction! I’ve had a few multipla’s and this isn’t the first engine change but all previous were with the older 1.9 jtd.

I’ll check but think I did get my engine code incorrect as the other member mentioned but yes this is the 1.9 8v

I wasn’t too sure but suspected with the sump and all Multipla specific parts swapped over it should work.

It is a multijet with a multijet badge on the boot.

Anyway you can check hp pump code, injectors code or ecu code.
1.9 JTDm 120hp is 186a9000 from 2004.
If your photo in post #4 is real then it's JTDm 120 but engine code must be 186a9000.
