1.9 jtd grey/bad fume exhaust smoke fault?

Our w reg 1.9jtd 105 hp is kicking out a greyish foul smelling eye watering smoke from the exhaust & a surge/hunting tickover fault. its had injectors cleaned & checked ok, tank & fuel system drained as the diesel guy says it wasnt running on diesel,(previous owner must have run it on kerosene or similar)& refilled with v power. all filters replaced,replaced airflow meter,egr valve blanked off at both ends to stop it burning its own rubbish,removed inlet hoses checked for hole/split and also removed intercooler and cleaned that out,All water and oil levels are good and it doesnt burn no oil, the car sounds good and pulls well but cannot get rid of the fault does anyone have any idea's as were running out. :bang:
