Just wondering if anyones had much experience with the 1.9 JTD lumps?

Another one of my plans, which may well amount to nothing, involves one of these. Just wondering, realistically, how far these can be taken and any issues to watch out for with them!

Cheers,
Martyn

Speaking from the Stilo perspective, I believe the JTD of the older generation, there's 2 versions, the 80hp and 115hp. Obviously the latter is the one to go for, think it's the one that Abs has. Not sure about the tuning, but think they respond best to remapping and perhaps changing things like intercoolers and turbos, though that's a complete guess as I'm no diesel expert.

The later Multijet one's though are where it's at. You can indeed get 200hp and above out of those, they start at 150hp after all for the 1.9s. Saying that though, you get a massive amount of torque out of them even as standard. It's always surprised me driving a modern diesel just how quick they accelerate, especially at motorway speeds. Drove a Vectra with the same engine (VX co-developed them) and it was pretty rapid even if the car was pretty rubbish. Took a bit of getting used to though as it flew to the rev-limiter in every gear :D
