It's all about service histiry, if everything has been done when it needs to be done there's no reason why it shouldn't still have plenty of life left in it. In this instance I'd be less worried about the miles and more about the previous owners - if only 1, then I reckon it'll have plenty left. If it's had like 10 owners then I'd be concerned ...

Injectors will be looking questionable and maybe the turbo, but if its not smoking and as already said its been looked after...
Slow and less good on fuel compared to the JTDs.
Fiat engines are ok but they wont take abuse like zero servicing. Their diesels were designed with VW. In fact the TDI and JTD are more Fiat than they are VW.

Matter of opinion, take the FIRE engine for example, fairly bulit proof except for HG failure if they've overheated.
TBH if looked after most engines are capable of 200K+

Yer jtd are better, it's a 1.9d punto van, don't think it's the turbo, will just be a cheap run around for work, but don't want to spend £££££ to keep it going you know. Will check for smoking, cheers

Its a van It WILL be slow and it WILL have been thrashed. Better with a car more useful and cheaper to insure. Van insurance is rubbish. I used to have a Merc Vito. A top knotch MPV would have been cheaper to insure and the van policy did not cover contents.

Not the best, but pretty darn good. I know from experience having driven a 1.1 FIRE engine for just shy of 150,000 miles that they are good engines. The engine is still running like a sewing machine, it's all the ancillary equipment attached to the chassis which means its motorway cruising days are drawing to a close. Still a fine runabout though.

I had a Montego diesel like that; fab engine (and reliable) but the body and build quality were crap. Fiats were then way better and still are up there. Obviously they dont compare with Audis Beemers and Mercs, but they only cost 1/3 of the money (ok maybe 1/2)
