I'm having an issue with starting my 1.9 and I can't find a similar description in any of the other starting problems threads.

From cold, it starts first time no problem. If it's warmed up, it starts first time no problem. If it's cool, say do a mile or so, just enough for the temp needle to move but still be at 3 o'clock, and I then leave it for an hour or so, it takes several attempts to start. In those cases the glow plug light comes on briefly before going off, so I'm wondering if it's a sensor somewhere which thinks the car is warmer than it is and not heating the plugs or getting the mixture wrong.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem for a year asked everyone and had no answers but I sorted it, bought a new battery with 55amp crank and it cured it. get a top quality one with a 5 year warranty trust me it cures it !!!!!

I would just like to thanks Slider69r and DueUno for their wisdom here, I had the exact same symptoms, despite my garage saying it could'nt possibly be the battery, I took a leap of faith based on this solitary thread and got a newer higher capacity Exide 64ah/640cca battery from Eurocarparts

Now no issues starting from a 'cool state' or any state for that matter. I might add that for anyone else in the same tightspot my battery showed ZERO signs of labouring when cranking which makes this fix all the more weirder

I'm super pleased and thanks again :)
