This might sound daft, but how the hell do i change the plugs on my 1.8, i have a bloody lump of metal holding the plugs in. As some of u may know my ravo's running v.bad at mo - think on 3cyls. So a plug chance MAY solve it... but how??

Any help appreciated.

you need a torx socket/driver.
i got mine from halfords for £6 its not the 'proper' tool for the job, but it works fine.

the coils are held in place by allen key bolts.

easy peasy :)

Re: Re: 1.8 Spark Plug Change- How?

oh yeah,
push the coil onto the spark plug to lift it out when you've undone it.

thats assuming you've lost the rubber bung from your spark plug socket.

i'm not sure what size torx driver you need, halfords should be able to let you try a few, they did me.

Again at the risk of soundin dumb, WHERE are the plugs, does the rocker cover have to come off, or are they in that 'thingy' behind the back of the engine where the throttle linkage is??

they are under the rocker cover.
it also has 2 small allen screws each side of the oil cap.

Thanks for help craig... one last thing - the bolts... some1 warned me that i might need new bolts afterwards as they could be a special use once bolt especially for heads and rockers??

While i've been 'researching' my problem on here my old man has been out and is on way back home with a haynes manual. hehe - a useful freebie.

No, you won't be removing THOSE bolts :) Thats only if you take the head right off!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 1.8 Spark Plug Change- How?

if you get that far, you've taken too many bolts out ;)
