I've had a diagnostics done on my car and it comes up that the mass air flow sensor is faulty, but i have seen somewhere on a post on here that the 1.8 doesn't have one, any idea if thats correct? So if its not that is the MAP sensor the thing that goes into the side of throttle body, could this be the same thing ??

Easiest way to solve this problem is to retrieve the code that was given when the did the diagnostic..No MAF or airflow meter is installed on the 1.8 your assumption is correct..(y)

Well i think i can see what the faulty part because i took off a part which i think is a sensor on the side of the throttle body which has a piece which goes into the air intake and has 2 things similar to filaments inside a bulb, and i can see that one of these is broken so im guessing this is the fault but not sure what it is called so i dont really know what to ask for when phoning spares companies. Is this the MAP sensor?

Yes it is. And if my memory serves me right – fiat do not sell it.. that is they do.. but only as part of the throttle body (not cheap) try to find one at your local friendly scrappy (they probably won’t even think it costs much ;) ) PS: i don’t see how the sensor would be broken unless due to physical damage.. i.e. bad idea trying to clean it with a screwdriver or rug..

not really sure how its managed to break, but would one of the filaments being broken be the reason for unsteady idle and powerloss?
