you would have been struggling from 110-120 so dont bullshit that there was loads left because in a cossie there is sod all left after 120. It takes serious amounts of extra power to feel pull after that kind of speed.!!
Well for a start I've had 120 out of my bravo 1.8 HLX, I didn't get any more than that because i took my foot off the gas! the only engine mod i've got is an induction kit, and they don't do anything. So I've decided that I'm going for a trip to the rolling road. When I get my print out, i'll post it on here. Thanks
Looks like Autocar (17.01.1996) had a dodgy car - or Top Gear had a specially prepared one.
I've seen 110 in my 1.6 (in between 100 and 120 on the dial, officer) behind a 156 on a quiet road before I bottled it. It could've gone on for more, that's a definite.
No bullshit, I did manage to get 128 out of my bravo 1997 1.8 hlx with 2 passengers in it. It took a long time to get there from 110 but it did just manage it. I think with a few extra bhp (superchip ???) it might manage 130.
About 2 miles later i got pulled for doing 95 and had to go to court. To cut it short i got 3 points and 40 fine. (I had a good solicitor.)
I have a 18 hlx 1997 that runs on LPG which makes it slightly slower , particually at speeds over 90mph. Ive seen over 120mph many times without trying very hard. If I swithch to Petrol it pulls much harder at high speeds. I see no reason why it wouldn't touch the red line in 5th gear which should give about 130mph (on a good day with a following wind)
However what we all must remember is speedos are inaccurate especially at high speeds. The other day I saw 142mph in a 1.8 16v duratec 125bhp (up hill). I was going fast but not that fast.
looking at those stats they seem a bit pants....according to the book a 80SX will only do 105.....this is **** as I have done 115 and then some...I know cause a copper pulled me.....bastard....
