Coupla questions..

1. Is the mk1 1.8 engine any different to the mk2 1.8?

2. When doing a cambelt change on a 1.8, what are the components needed?

3. Whilst changing cambelt and tensioner(s), would it be wise to replace anything else?

Ta guys.

All tensioners and some ppl. recommend changing the water pump.
The difference is in the number of the teeth on the cambelt - I think

All tensioners - is that one fixed and one variable?

Is there a way I could tell before diving in to change the belt?

I've been offered from a colleague at work for him to do the cambelt+bits for £50 + parts.

just had my belt/tensioners changed today . £50 seems a reasonable price , timing belt kit should have adjustable tensioner / belt and idler ( fixed pully ) in it . my kit cost £70 inc vat ( gates )

Is yours a 1.8 as well mate?
