spoke with fiat uk today who said there was no 1.6 diesel option for the gp, they really are rubbish.. I was in a fiat showroom at the weekend and the salesman showed me an email from Fiat that said all future new sporting puntos would come with the 1.6 m-jet engine from the Bravo. He even suggested that Fiat had somehow tuned the engine to 120 bhp but to only kick out less than 120 co2 therefore u only pay £35 to tax it!!!!

He said the 1.6 was much smmother, had more torque lower down the rev range and was much more eco than the 1.9, all good news then???

Anyone heard the official bhp/co2 of this yet, not been able to get an update from the dealer.

Cheers

It will be happening. This engine in the Alfa Mito puts out 126g/km. I presume it wouldn't take too much hassle to reduce it further with low rolling resistance tyres etc.

From the stuff I've read it looks like the 1.9 may have been tweaked by Fiat as according to the data in Autoexpress this week it's suddenly become more economical and cleaner - dropped below 150g CO2 and doing over 50mpg combined cycle.

Strange...
