Okay, I ordered my car from Motorprovider, and they've rung me today with a bit of interesting news...

Supposedly FIAT have sent them an email stating that the 1.9 Sporting is being discontinued and replaced with a 1.6 diesel engine that kicks out the same performance?

I promptly told them to get back on the blower to Fiat, as this sounded slightly odd to me, but what does everyone else think!? :D

I have seen Posts referring to this, I think it is the new 1.6 16 valver.

Fiat experts in the Know?

More importantly - how would this affect the ability to remap, and the end figures?

I only bought the GP in the knowledge that it can be remapped to 170bhp+, as anything lower than that is a bit too slow for me...

When they stick the new 1.6 120hp Multijet in the GP that would give it a CO2 rating of only 126 as that what it is in the Mito.. that's amazingly low.

235 lbs/ft torque in the Mito - more than the Mjet at 207
123mph in the Mito - 124mph for the MJet
9.3 0-62 in the Mito - 9.2 for the Mjet

This also means that the car tax next year will be £90 a year, and the 1.9 will go up to £150.

To confirm the order or cancel... :(

I would confirm, it will be a much smoother nicer engine that should feel quicker in standard. I cant see why you shouldnt be able to up the power. You can increase the power on the 75 and 90 1.3 m-jet engines, the 1.6 is an enlarged version of this engine. The only thing is though is that It wouldnt be a while until some one brings out a decent map for it.

Are GSR doing 25% = +30hp on this unit in the Bravo atm?

If this is replacing the 1.9, you would have thought they would bring it out immediatly as the series 2 sporting, rather than having a few series 2 1.9 sportings about.

Sounds like it should be a good engine though (y)

I'll get the guy to forward on the email from Fiat - but he did say that the 1.9 will be replaced in all series 2's.

What infuriates me though, is why didn't Fiat update their website with this information when they included all the Series 2 extras!? :bang:

Ahh... but the S2 GP's have been out since late last year in Italy. They've been running S1 stock down since then...

Fiat UK are useless, although Fiat Italy aren't much better. They've stopped the 1.9 on the fiat.it website, most powerful 3 door diesel on there atm is the 1.3 90hp Sport.

Really undecided now whether to cancel it, and instead go buy the Pre-Reg 08 plate round the corner with 3 miles on the clock for 10k... :(

Is that one a S2 tho?

What does the S2 have that the S1 doesnt beside possibly a smaller 16v diesel motor? Any new toys or body changes? Better standard equipment like cruise control as standard? Are those wheels in the new GP advert standard? (Black alloys)

Just curious.

Nope - an S1.

S2 just comes with cruise control and Blue and Me as standard - plus of course the sexier new alloys (for £200 extra) :(

Mine on order also has climate and tints which the pre-reg doesn't have...
