1.6 brava need big help

hi i need help asap i just got a 1997 1.6 sx auto brava once i got it home around 17 miles when i went back out for a drive i found a warning light i cant remeber if it was all ready on or not when i 1st saw the car but once i paid for the car im left with nealy no cash left.so from the reading iv done its a injection system malfunction light iv done some more reading and been told i can reset the ecu by cuting all power to the ecu for 45min then once power back to it that will clear the light but be for i try this i didnt get a red key so will i need this if i lose all power to the car.also do you fink this would work or will it just hide a prob if this dont work is there any cheap way to fix meny thanks im not sure if im loseing power as this is the 1st time in this make of car but it takes a bit to get it to 60mph so seems to lose power im with the AA and was think if i call them out they will check the ecu for a code but would they do this under my cover would as the car can be driven would it still be AA mater meny thanks

Wow! that was a hard read!
Anyway, removing the battery pole to reset the ECU, will do nothing to the immobilizer system meaning that you don't need the red key. BUT, simply reseting your ECU doesn't mean that your problem will go away. You might be lucky if the fault was due to bad gas or faulty reading on the Lamda sensor, or even the piston position sensor (had that happen to me a few times. I have a bravo with same engine so I know what I'm talking about), then it will go away. If you have some serious problem, resetting the ECu will do nothing.

ya sorry mate was rushing around when i did this post well the aa cam out and said it was coil pack new coil pack went on still got the same prob well the ecu re set it self or will it need to be re set on a system as im not sure but i know on my megan a warning light and the ecu whent in to safe mode once the prob was fixd i had to get the ecu re set is this the same will all cars meny thanks
