Technical 1.6 1996 punto sporting safe engine or no?

my punto chewed off its cambelt teeth and ive replaced the belt and timed it up but theres no compression...... i thought these were safe engines i.e non interference??

its an 8 valve not a 16

any1 any ideas?

it is at the correct tension right? those 8valve engines are "safe" engines, but that's because there is no auto tensioner on it like there is on the 16v (all assuming you meant 1.2 8v?)

sorry its a 1.6 8v sport

its def not an auto tensioner.... there doesnt seem to be any compression tho????

when it ate the cam belt there were no nasty noises from engine it just stalled quietly

now its got a new belt and tensioner when i turn it over it just makes a whizzzzzzing noise all the puleys turn etc but there doesnt seem to be compression i ve turned it by hand and its really easy and doesnt stop or kick back at all

If it's a FIRE engine then its a safe engine I believe

i think its a FIRE engine , it looks like one from what ive read about them

the 1.6 is not a fire and not safe
