Hi Guy's,
Need your thoughts on a problem with my old Bravo 1.6 16v. This problem was intermittent but seems to be happening more often.

Loss of power between idle and up to 2000rpm, when condition is on I can nurse the throttle for a bit and it recovers, but as soon as I try to take up the drive it dies again, unless you keep the revs high and slip the clutch.

No warning lights standing...apart from a oil level warning light? (oil level is good).
Injectors all reading the same resistance.
Plugs and leads appear to be good.
Coil pack has acceptable readings...but has slight casing crack.

I believe this to be a ignition problem...are these conditions indicative of a failing coil pack? or could it be induction related?

Any thoughts...

Seems a little strange, the only thing i can think of induction wise is maf sensor, maybe worth disconnecting and seeing is it affects the issue?

Ignition wise, normally with a fault like that i'd expect the injection warning to come on with a fault that affects running so much. So although it doesn't rule out Crank sensor or similar, it seems less likely.

The oil level light is a bit concerning, though if there's no other signs of issues to go along with it, not sure it's relevant. But off the top of my head, if it was related in any way i'd take a wild stab at it indicating oil pressure issues, so maybe a weak oil pump and slipped timing (if it was dead, the engine would have siezed by now and the timing would make the problem less intermittent, so seems massively unlikely), or perhaps HG issues, oil pressure being lost with oil getting into cylinders messing up performance at low revs but higher revs it burns it off... but again, if oil level is fine, massively unlikely. That just seems to point to the oil sensor playing up tbh, probably coincidental. I'd lean towards maf first

Is it misfiring at all or just generally sluggish?

Thanks Mark...I have a coil pack coming, £35 so not too sore. I'll try that and see if it improves things. I'm starting to think that it's possibly the crank sensor or cam sensor, as the problem seems to be engine speed related. Not sure if there will be any events posted on the ECU, it may be that I'll have to get a diagnostics done. But I was trying to go through all the normal checks first...watch this space.

Couldn't get to the bottom of this one, unless I spent a ton of money and still the car would be worth buttons...Car Scrapped!

No use now but Alfa was doing this. New spark plugs fixed it. Same with my 1.6 stilo. Wish I'd seen this earlier sorry

My old ones looked good but new ones in and it works so had to be it. Also no warning lights
