Hi,
I was wondering what 1.4 engines can you put straight into a seicento? Or does it require mix and matching? I saw a few topics on here and people have used different parts like engine and gearbox from Stilo, Inlet manifold and ec from Punto mk1 16v, Throttle Body from Marea 1.6 16v, Supersprint manifold Stainless steel.
Thanks

Hello, you are correct. Engine wise you have a choice of the grande punto, punto, stilo, and bravo.

The parts need to fit would be an ecu from a mk1 punto, and inlet manifold (depending on whether you have access to a machine shop to make an adapter plate for the 1.6 throttlebody to fit on the 1.4 manifold). Mk 1 or Mk2 punto coil packs and mount plate, try and use the alternator setup from the donor engine and ditch the aircon if it has it. The engine mounts from the original engine will fit but will need to either be spaced 5mm or 5mm taken out of the inside to allow clearance for the alternator belt.

Gearbox wise I wish I did go for a 6 speed as the standard sei box feels lifeless in 5th.

Theres more but im on my phone at work :d

Thanks

May be of a bit of use to you. Mixing of TB, alternator, etc is required really to get everything to run and fit.

Engine mount wise i spaced engine over slightly and removed part of mount as a balance in the middle. Any further spacing and you will run into problems fittting gearbox mounts or any more cut off mount and it gets a bit hairy TBH.

Good to know about the 6 speed box as Whitz has been taking the pi55 for ages for fitting it instead of the 5 speed. Thanks. :p

Very helpful link, Thanks.

I just need to research gearbox top ends as i'm hopefully going to try out the newer bravo 6 speed, just haven't got any info on it.

Hopefully be using the full potential of my engine soon as I should be upgrading ecu soon and a couple of other goodies too :d.

Thanks

Currently i'm using the standard 1.1 sei micro chip style ecu. Its holding the engine back. Its quick as it is, but you can feel it holding back.

Original plan was dta s40 but something else a bit more expensive has caught my eye but the dta is still on my list :D.

It's not really a secret but then it is at the same time. Some of the things sitting in my bathroom whitz has seen :D.

Thanks

ive herd of reading books while on the throne but staring at engine parts..... thats dedication lol.

what do you mean lifeless in 5th??? no go or loads? the 8v feels fine in 5th compared to the 1.1 and with doing a 1.2 16v sei up here that was even better, would outrun any 8v top end of the revs without thinking about it. (slower lower down though)

aye i always thought the 6speed had a lower final drive so wouldnt be much use... but mabee im wrong. f1ang has just got himself a 6speed for the 16valve so if his is in before yours ill give my verdict lmao.

You are right in thinking that thats why i'm looking into the newer 6 speed box's :D

Kritip said the 6 speed on a panda is good for 135mph or something like that (and quite torque'y), with the weight saving i'm going to be playing :D. Not looking into any replacement pannels yet however, but I may when I get a cage sorted.

Thanks

I could look into it along with all the other box's i'm considering ;).

To be honest I don't like my car being a daily as it stands now, so i've been looking into another car to use that I don't mind parking in carparks. Mine doesn't even go to coventry anymore as the roads are not on the great side of smooth :bang:.

In wet weather it decides to go sideways round roundabouts due to the yoko's (only thing scaring me at the moment :D). Sometimes does it in the dry too when cornering a bit too hard, rear ARB wouldn't go amiss just to keep the corner wheel in the air :D.

Thanks

Same as what i'm using, wet weather is a no go for me. In the dry they are brilliant, took a good hour around bruntingthorpe on a hot day and never failed me. Few days later in the rain I daren't go over 30 around roundabouts :D.

My friend uses the same tyres on his mini and says the same thing, brilliant on warm dry days but as soon as it rains he stays in home or takes the sensible car out :D.

Thanks

hmm. could be the setup??

only ever had pirrelis budjets and yokos and the yokos were byyyyy far the best in all conditions. but it might be driving style too.
