hi just a quick question i have been offered a 1.4s bravo for free only catch is there is no keys i have been told i will need a lock set and a ecu does anyone know how hard they are to change thanks

you need to do a search on this forum because all the info you need has been given before by people al lot more knowledgeable than I.

but it goes something like this.

ECU
CODE box
lockset.

Fitting of the first two is I imagine feirly straight forward

The lockset would probably be a pain though. Don't forget you would need
ignition,
2 door locks
boot lock
petrol cap.

The chances of finding all of those from the same car in a scrappy, along with the red key must be fairly slim.

I don't know if there were different versions of the 1.4 but sometimes the wiring differs so you would need to check the boxes are compatible.

Unless it was dirt cheap (or even better Free!)
it may prove more of a hassle than a bargain.

its a little involved. certainly not for the first time mechanic i wouldn't have thought...

if its free then i would take it :) could be good fun trying to get the stuff sorted and then have yourself a relativly cheep run a round :D

the parts in quiestion i wouldnt say it would be hard to get hold since it being a 1.4 just do your best to get the same year and it may pull off :D of but as buzz said the swapping around may prove a little bit annoying but so far ive managed to do door locks and ive got 4 o them pretty easily ,boot lock and the steering lock so that next part would be the ecus and code box :) have fun :D

just had a quick look and found this on ebay :)

170074778911 thats the item number and best ask him what key is included etc
