hi there i have a 1.2 stilo
my cat is completely gone lol
i have the chance to buy a full system for 50 notes from a 1.4 model
my question is will the cat or the whole system fit mine
even if some fabrication is needed can i make it fit if so how

thanks

Hi mate just looked at an older version of eper for you which has both the 1.2 and 1.4 systems inc cat and it looks the same to me..the 1.4 came from the development of the 1.2 so it makes sence that they carried over the system to the 1.4 from the 1.2..(y)

besides.. you will be keeping your existing exhaust manifold.. and the join between manifold and cat is extremely unlikely to be different (even if it is.. it should be possible to modify the fitting) also £50 for a cat is an amazing bargain! However, be aware that cats don't fail without a reason (i.e. over fuelling) and if the reason for the original failure has not been addressed then the replacement will likewise be damaged (unless we are talking physical damage due to impact)

PS: i do believe some people managed to straight swap the 1.4 with a 1.2 engine (or seriously considered that) and given that engines are near enough identical in terms of fixings and dimensions – you should have no problems

If the cat is going to be replaced then the manifold will be going with it..simple reason being its a manicat [one unit ] and not split..this is a 1.6 but the 1.2 and 1.4 use the same system..;)

re the cat knackering this has been caused through 2 clutch changes
theres a bolt hard to get at so did previous owners do bent the cat/down pipe past it making it weak and finally perishing

eek (my lesser knowledge of anything but the 1.8 strikes again :( having said that - 1.8 has 2 cats.. @least i've not advised the op to swap just 1 :ROFLMAO:)

Well to me the company that did the damage are responsible for replacing the cat..I would pursue it with a solicitor.. makes me very mad when you see this lack of quality work nowadays and slapdash attitude..in my day if you caused damage you rectified it not send the vehicle back out and shrug your shoulders..:bang:
