General 1.3 mulitjet, Anyone got theirs refitted with new gasket yet?

Obviously the exhaust has been moved about when the manfiold was off for HG job, maybe it needs rehanging? Could be a heat shield vibrating.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'm sure they'll sort it out when it goes back.

Oh God; here we go...

New car, built with duff components and now seemingly messed about with by the dealer; and now something obviously very wrong with the fuel consumption (your figures are accurate?) and a worsening rattle.

The Multijet 1300 is a superb engine, but Fiat must make sure customers are not inconvenienced in any way by a manufacturing error they are responsible for.

Ask for some compensation - a couple of years free servicing and a huge box of chocolates and some flowers, plus a written apology would be a beginning.

Not my figures but the 5oo's on the average fuel consumption info on dash. It's now up to 36.4 MPG - still low but getting better with every drive.

I know all about the 1.3mjet as had it in a Punto before and thats why I went for it in the 5oo.

Compo? I haven't even received the vouchers yet or been offered them, although I have asked about it. In fairness to them my dealer is an Alfa dealer is doing it through their FIAT branch.

Has anyone else received their vouchers yet?

I think it could be something to do with testing the engine after the gasket

MPG up to 41.6 and I'm not driving it gingerly in the least. Rattle now sorted and traced to a "loose bracket under the centre console" Took them all day to find that.

I think the particulate filter slows it down a bit so could be looking for more power and torque. Could do with some lower springs!

16" two-tone wheels were ordered but now they don't exist! so I am waiting for 15" two tone as replacements for the standard 16" wheels that the car arrived with.

Has anybody got a picture of these wheels? I am intrigued because they where with drawn before my order

I hope I get more than the low 40s, will be pretty miffed if not, Im using a 13 year old 2 litre petrol VW for work now, and thats returning 38 mpg on average.

This is crazy...I'm paying more for my diesel and people with 1.2s are getting 50+!!! That's the 2nd person who's declared they're getting +50 on 1.2s!!!
Has anyone on here got more than 50 mpg on their 1.3's??

Me too, Im surprised about the 1.2, as my new Panda never bettered around 48mpg, and the 1.2 Micra I had was 45mpg so obviously Fiat have done something good there.
Still, the extra torque is what I wanted to even if its 50 to 55 then Id be happy... just wish theyd build the car, been 6 weeks now and still no build week

That average was after 1300 miles on 80 mile a day total to commute. Going to work was hilly in parts and not straight roads. So engine was getting used more. Different route home though. Some extended periods of sub 50mph. Some hilly parts. But more constant speed and terrain than getting to work.
I am due to be driving up the A1 to Newcastle soon. So am expecting the 60.4 to increase a tad.

Two tankfuls on my 1.3 now, first one 58.4 second one 59.4. Mixed driving including M, A, B and unclassifieds.

Coming from a 1.9 mjet I have to boot the 5oo a bit more to get the performance I'm used to.

Said goodbye to my 156 today and averaged 59.9 mpg on the 70 mile trip to the new owners, but I was driving sedately. Maybe I should try that in my 5oo! :idea:
