hi guys, got bravo r reg 1.4sx,had it for bout a year now,but want a newer model,so just wondering whats the 1.2 engine like, the 1.4 is slow and does bout 70 or 80 to a tenner, any info on 1.2 will be good guys, thanks

1.2 Mate! 1.4 Suck Serious Ass MPG Is Pathetic & You Will Get Better Performance & Better Fuel Consumption & Not To Mentio The 1.2 Is Probabaly Faster Than The 1.4 Lol!

whats 1.2 like for petrol then???how many miles would i expect for a tenner, your right bout the 1.4,wished id have looked into it properly before i bought it,it sucks big time and is slow as hell

As copied and pasted from the Bravo-guide
80sx

Urban 30.2mpg
Extra Urban 53.6mpg
Average 41.8mpg

Yeh I Had One Also Before I Bought My 1.6 Hlx It Got Me On Average 86 Miles For £10. The 1.2's Do About 30 Mpg And The 1.4's 25 If Your Lucky. It Doesnt Sound Much But Add The Fact The 1.2 Can Be Angel Tuned To Throw Out A Few More Bhp It's Well Worth To Change Mate. Also The Interior Is Far Superior On The Mk 2 Bravo's. :) Thats My Opionion Anyway

Pasted From Bravo Guide

1.4

Urban 24.1
Extra Urban 47.3
Average 30.7

1.2

Urban 30.2
Extra Urban 53.6
Average 41.8

yes might get 2000/2001 1.2 sx,there abit mad at fiat though, the cars look great but they cant sort engines out proper can they!!they made bravo with 1.4 12v then cause of poor speed and fuel consumption they replace it with 1.2 16v which is alot better, now they bring out stilo to replace bravo with a 1.2 16v engine in ,now they have stopped making 1.2 16v for stilo and they put in a 1.4 now, they are crackers, what do u guys think of stilo 3 door???, i think they look good in right colour

Yeh 3 Door Stilos Are Nice, 5 Door Ones Are Pants! Look Nice In Most Colours I Find On The 3 Door Model Broom Yellow 2.4 Abarth For Me Tho If I Ever Get 1!

the 1.4 12v engine was not made new for the Bravo, its an old design of engine developed from the Tipo/Uno. Hence why they developed the new 1.2 engine for the Mk2.

i had a 1.4 now got the 1.2, much better car, it's quicker & fuel is good. i've had it angel tuned & it's even better.

I have a 1.4, but selling and buying a 1.8.... I'll get the same mpg on the 1.8 as i do on the 1.4...

Hey Mathew...did the angeltuning have much of an effect on the car?

Pete,
my 1.2 felt quite a bit nicer after a bit of Angel tweaking. It's not much faster but is a lot smoother at low and high (well 4000) revs. I keep meaning to try a standard one again as it seems differences are easier to tell when you downgrade.

As for fuel economy, it's improved! I've been getting ~520 miles from full before I get the orange light which is about 10-15 more.

Tom.

The thing I would be most concerned about would it have an effect on overtaking...I am not a boy racer or anything its just I wish the 1.2 had a bit more grunt during overtaking....thanks Tom

if you downshift to 3rd and wait for it... even forth gear after having it tuned you will feel more of a throttle response than before :) much easier to get past people.
just keep it on song (5000-5500rpm gear changes) and there are not many small engine hot hatches that can beat it ;)

Have you thought about getting a 1.6 or even a 1.8, the fuel consumption (from the Bravo guide) is better on both models than the 1.4...

Niether can be Angel Tuned, but will have more power from standard...

Prices from parkers for a 2000 v-reg...

Was there a specific name for the engine Fiat developed for the 1.2, it was fire something or other......I am probably completely wrong

I think the fire was the Panda engine...

I have heard of the forza, but not sure if thats the name of the engine or not...

Daz

All fiat engines are FIRE, it basically means they are made by robots.

I thought it was just the panda engine because it was used in fire engines to pump to water?
