hey im only new to this site but i have a 99 1.2 fiat punto and the head gasket is gone on it due to the fan not working. i saw a few threads about the head gaskets but was wondering does anyone have a link or a thread to somewhere where theres a step by sted guide to changing the timing belt or head gasket....i would say im fairly mechanicaly minded:p but have never worked on one of these cars before........

thanks in advance for any help:worship:

Hello all,
Suffering with the same problem, head gasket has gone, by the looks of it Thermostat decided not to work, car got a bit hot, not hugely but enough for me to go this isn't right and pull over. Car work's etc but I've got the AA man to tow me home and using the wife's car currently.

I'm fairly mechanically minded and serviced some of my cars and all of my motorbikes. Can someone give me a comprehensive list of parts worth changing while I strip it down this weekend and some good sites on where to buy these parts online? (if not I can go local but there might be better make's of branded gaskets online).

I will be changing the thrmostat, head gasket and timing belt while I am there as well as getting the head skimmed. Is there anything else I need to change? Rods?

Anything is a plus currently as I know the parts that need changing but do not know thae parts I might need to change along the way.

Car is a 1.2L 8v Punto. Yr 2000.

Thanks very much

Excellent Site, Just ordered the lot for a cool £85 with free delivery (Next day as well) really impressed with the site and the fact it offers some decent branded products that are at good prices.

Thanks very much for your help:slayer:

Whatever you do, make sure the headgasket is on the right way up. You'll soon know its not when no oil is getting to the top end.
