General 1.2 8v Rev Limit

General 1.2 8v Rev Limit

But that's what's written in the manual !
Anyways i didn't like the way they got 60hp from a 1.2L engine, i mean some other 1.1 L engines of other brands with 8v get more power than that :(

name one?

you wont damage the engine, the 1.2 8v was designed with a limit of about 9k rpm, makes it a tough little bugger, no need for a red zone, just a sensible little limiter as it dont produce power beyond 5500 i think it was.

yes you can tell, thats why its in the manual, fiat already did the rr before they give it too you, bench test loads and say if some were 58 and some were 63ish, then they average it, they came up with 60, thats what it is, some maybe more, some maybe less(y)

Oh thanks alot "Red-Devil", didn't know anything about it b4. Where did u get such info ?

some car makers (and im sure fiat isn't one of them, but nissan do this) test say 20 engines, if it was a 1.2 say, one or 2 will bush out 65bhp, most will push out 62-63bhp, but if one only does 58bhp say, thats what the engines will be rated at, 58bhp. most like to overstate figures though and tend to give a generous estimate!

Well, i didn't find any ! but that's partially cause there aren't much 8v motors produced nowadays, even the crapy chineese cars sold in Egypt (where i live currently) have 16v or at least 12v.
but since u have some knowledege, will a k&n induction kit do measurable difference to an 8v ? will that deserve the cost ?

it'll make a difference but the wrong way you'll loose power

yup, no good atall, just noise;)

whats all this about the 8v reving to 7k??

my wouldnt go anywhere near, about 6400 if you where lucky, but anyway not alot of point, no power up there.it will do 90 in 3rd, take an age to get there though.

as for other 8v

renault older clio did a 1.2 8v with the same power
old corsa was 45:worship::devil: the 1.4 in the mk1 ls was an 8v and that only had 60:ROFLMAO:

truth is there aint any that produced more as standard, old or new, i think to this day the 1.2 16v in the mk1 remains the most powerful, standard n/a 1.2 ever produced at 86bhp :worship::woot:
