General 1.2 8v Rev Limit

General 1.2 8v Rev Limit

1.2 8v mk2 has a rev limit of 6k mate, no chance in damaging the old gal, strong as oxes the 8v's.

hit the limiter no end of times, though due too the extra long gearing of the mk2

it will do 62 in second and 90 in third:eek::eek:

takes a while to get there mind:D

it was 6.5k on the mk1's

The 8v in my active sport would comfortably go all the way to near 7k (no power at those amount of revs though).

This won't damage the engine, Fiat did valve bounce tests from 9000rpm and found that it was absolutely fine. VTEC my arse :slayer:

1.2 16V MK2 rules :D
Personally, I havent tried mine above 7k, the counter goes up to 8k, red starts at 7k, after 6.2k it has no point, takes ages to 7k
And gearbox... in second, on 6.2k revs I do 85 km/h

6k is fine then :)
I've got the lower end dash - for the lower end model
Its just a Punto 3dr
Nothing else

But i've done 30/32 in first (bouncing)
2nd i've done 50 with ease :)

But 6k is the rev-limiter then :)
And can do 9k :O why stop there? :p

Ziggy

I have a 1.2 8v mk2b punto & i never exceeded the 5000 RPM level, seems like it's damaing the engine tho i'm not sure about it! y didn't Fiat just add a red zone to the RPM gauge ??
anyways i guess the maximum horsepower u can get (60 HP) is from the 5000 RPM.

It's impossible to tell where you're getting max BHP without a rolling test as far as I'm aware
