just wont to no what people think of the 1.2 8v in a cinq have you got one how much do you like? i am hoping to be geting one soon i found one that i wont and just wont to no if people think it is worth me swaping my 1998punto60sx with 64.000 on the clock four it well it be much faster then the punto?

one more think does anyone have any spec for the 1.2cinq like topspeed 0to60

It'll be faster than the Punto: after all, it's a lot lighter.

Generally they're about as economical as a 1108 Cinq, lots more torque (so better acceleration and you can be in a higher gear much sooner). As for top speed, I've seen 110, which is a bit optimistic speedowise on 195/45/14 tyres.

They're nice. Not as nice as a 1.4 or a tub, but nice. ;)

How hard is a Sporting to a 1.2 conversion? what do you ACTUALLY need to do?
Is it a simple case of popping one in and another out, or does the gearbox, exhuast manifold etc have to be changed as well?
Cheers

everything will be same apart from the engine.

And you need a 10 - 15mm spacers, between the exhaust manifold to the exhaust (because the 1242 is a slight bit taller)

Because of that, you can not fit a air box, so best to get a induction like GSR ?

You will be using your crank senso from your 1108 engine and the oil sensor again from your 1108 engine.

Apart from that, everything is the same, no need to mess about with loom or ecu.

Hmmmm might try that when my engine packs in... Its had HG and timing belt etc done 2000 miles ago, but milage is knocking on to 106000!

What do these engines last till

Tom (Arse) ran a standard induction setup on his 1242 Cinq with no problem - I've seen it with my own eyes.

Hi tim! Im actualy doing a 1.2 engine swap at the min (link in my sig) its a punto 75 engine so a little harder.

Luke you are right the 16 valve is not so good to tune due to its hydralic tappets.
the best setup im told is a 8valve head on a 16valve block (best head and best block :) ).
ya im just buying one with the engine in it hoping to just swap my punto for it i was going to get a non runer and fit the engine but i dont have a drive or anythink and could not find a garage to rent anywhere near me:cry:

how much harder is it to get the punto75 in there

100 bhp is probably not on without spending turbo like money (for less performance!) from an 8v 1242.

But, decent exhaust, manifold, P75 cam, port matching, tricker, GSR and McCritch should see an honest 85bhp in a completely street useable everyday car.

Beyond that you're talking remaps (at least), wild and expensive cams, 3 angle valve seats, maybe bigger valves and a relatively peaky engine that won't be as easy (or as fun) to drive.

For that kind of money you could do a 1.4 16v and have a 115bhp everyday, driveable car.

Doing the punto 75 conversion is easy! Minimum needs are an engine inlet manifold ecu and fuel pump and a spacer for exhaust manifold then for a bit more add the punto 75exhaust manifold and an exhaust system to match.
I can do the conversion. on a standard 75 engine with an induction kit (bmc cda) my chip straight through exhaust and a supersprint back box the car sees near 85bhp but its advised to uprate the valve springs with rev limit set to 7150rpm valves do bounce a little bit.

Forgot to add a vernier pully. Just to ask what would make you say that it wont produce any power there mate?
