Panda 1.1 Active Pandas

The silver Panda has been owned by various family members since 2008, it has begun giving spurious warning lights, not starting etc so the red Panda is its "replacement". Both cars fitted with side rubbing strips and the roof bars on to the red one.
More Pandamonium in this household, 54Red has corrosion and issues (surprise!) so 56Blue has come to stay, it's another 1.1 Active with 70k - and today I've "collected" an 05 4x4 Climbing which had been abandoned - still to give it a proper once over, but propshaft is missing and serious corrosion underneath!

Good to see the Western Isles Panda Rescue Service is going well:)

Could I ask, where is the corrosion? Is it just the rear beams and rear sills, or anywhere else?

We're in an aggressive coastal location (aggressive to anything that'll rust, we're usually quite friendly), and to my amazement the Panda is the least rusty car I've ever had. I'd like to try and keep her that way.

It is turning into a bit of a Panda rescue area! Rear floor area, beam axle & sills, front wing corners, front & rear suspension, sump pan, it's been lying in long grass for a number of years which is one of the worst things to do with a car - I'm thinking of using what I can fit on to my 1.1 Active and scrapping the rest, the smell of mouse/ rat pee inside is a bit overpowering!!

Sorry I've read you post again- 54Red corrosion is to the floor pan where the rear axle bump stops should locate so one bump stop is jumping about inside the spring!!
Thanks for that. I also have a bump stop missing. Seems fairly common.

About time I learned to weld with all this rusty metal lying around :/

I'd really like to put the bump stop back on - provides some extra damping when suspension is loaded and possibly stops the dampers getting too compressed
