Hello
i have Fiat tempra 92 1400
her motor works on carb
i thougt to replace it to mono fuel injection can i do it??
i think it is possible
i want to do it becouse my tempra using too much fuel
and the other reason i want to put turbo on my tempra and i know that she will use fuel twice with carb ..
can i replace with mono injection or i can to fix that carb for not using to much fuel.. ????? :bang:

sorry about my bad english

I'm not sure for that.. but let's supose you could replace it.

You need to have some things first:

- lambda probe
- ECU for electronic injection
- fuel injector resistor
- fuel injector relay
- ECT sensor (I think you have that already installed in the intake manifold)
- IDLE actuator
- fuel pressure valve connected to the ECU
- servo break hose (vacuum) connected to the digiplex 2
- replace ignition coil, couse it is not the same type, but maybe the old one will work
...
Is your distributor installed on camshaft or below it ?
And some more stuff I forgot to mention. Basicly the engine is the same, but you need to change everything above intake manifold wich means replacing carb with SPI unit. And that stuff I mentioned above.. Since original fiat parts are very expensive, you could try from scrapyard or if you know a friend, that has Tempra or Tipo 1.4 ie, that is ready to be taken apart.

So if you have all that stuff, I think it can be done.

Greetings

All I would say is that the SPI performance is very poor compared to the carb.

I agree. CARB engine has more power, but compared with prices of gas, I think economics exceeds power. If you need a sports car, CARB is better or an MPI engine. But I don't think 1.4 engine is used for racing purpose :) . So if you want to save some fuel, then SPI or MPI is the answer, but you cant install MPI on your engine.
