1.3 multi jet

Very reluctant to start from cold, can take several cycle before it picks up. Up to 40 seconds before it picks up.
Just as if the glow plugs were not working.
Glow plugs replaced by garage (all 4) no difference
Once started, runs perfectly.
Fuel filter replaced. No difference.
Egr valve replaced. No difference ( original refitted )
Battery checked , very healthy, correct type and only 2 years old (stop start type)

Basically once started, runs ok, stop any time during journey, no problems starting at all. (first turn)

Stop and park, go back after an hour ( engine still warm ) it will then take a shorter while to start maybe 10 seconds, but defiantly not straight away.

It's almost like the fuel is drawing away from the fuel rail and needs to reprime every time, however no major priming sounds from the pump?

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Car still in the garage ( non fiat but got the software and they have always been good in the past ) but they are starting to scratch their heads...now thinking injectors?

Cheers

Ken

So you should hear priming noises even briefly I do on mine. The fuel lines are generally push fit, I would pull one off feeding from the fuel filter and check it will pump into a container as you turn on the ignition. When I change the filter it takes a few primes before I would try and start and it does not throw fault codes at that time. Be a simple enough test.

Sounds like my problem some time ago. I also changed EGR Valve and Fuel filter without any luck in resolving it.
But all went back to normal when I've changed the battery, even if the garage read it as good. I've changed it with a bigger one than the one I had, looked to have a lot more crank power, as diesel need it. Had 60Ah 620A, now have 72Ah 820A. And I have no more problems with start. Also, I've read that Start Stop batteries are not recommended for engines with hi crank power requirements, so mine isn't Start Stop.
