My 16v Coupe has lost all its oil pressure. Gauge on nil, oil light on.

Limped it home gently- running(still) but beginning to get noisy.
Ive now just replaced oil filter- def no pressure as its not filled in the 2 mins I've subsequently ticked it over.

So -is it likely the oil switch has failed (- and where is it!) or is it a sump off jobbie to inspect the pump?

Any pointers as to likley causes? I'm none too familiar with this engine

If the filter is empty its pump.......and bearing time.

Think so -although the bearings are prob OK cos it happened so suddenly.

Running the engine even for a minute will have done untold damage.

The oil pump has failed so the crank shells will be shot and possibly the cam bearings as well. The latter don't have bearing shells so it could be VERY expensive.

Sorry, but oil to an engine is like blood to a human.
