Hi it's me again,

Have had my cd changer from the 1.6 replaced with a recon unit. I have been issued a new code and, while the head unit accepts it, every time I switch it off and back on it asks for the code to be entered again. I am following the correct procedure of using buttons 1-4 for entering the code and 5 for accepting it. This produces the expected result of it working, but I don't know why it won't hold onto the code. Any ideas any of you extremely knowledgable people ;)
Thanks
Steve

Sounds like it doens't, for some reason, have a permanent feed from the battery. If the unit loses power totally, then it'll wipe the memory. Easiest way to find out if this is the case is store a radio station, then turn the stereo off. Turn it back on and if you've lost the station then you might have a wiring problem. There should be, somewhere in the mash of headunit cabling, be a constant low current live feed. If this has been disconnected for some reason it would explain why you keep having to re-enter the code.

rroope - it's the cd changer.

No power loss all radio stations are tuned and the radio works immaterial of whether ignition is on or off - as it should. I had a cd changer fitted which was 6 months old, this has been returned to blaupunkt who have sent a replacement recon one. The problem I was having with original was that the cds were jamming. Now this one works but every time I turn the radio off I have to enter the code. Would this be a problem as the head has stored the original code?
thanks
Steve

Perhaps, although the stereo should keep the new code.

Try doing this.

It removes the necessity of entering the code so should work all the time.
