battery remove - radio codes etc

Am new to Stilo, therefore have submitted several posts trying to find things out whilst checking and doing the things I always do with a "new" vehicle. Check brakes, change oils and generally inspect whats there and condition, as far as possible.

I need to remove the battery tray to get at the gearbox oil filler, it seems, as I cannot locate the filler on the sides. According to posts it is on the top. To get at it I need to get the battery off and the question is:

Do I need the radio/cd code? (I have not got it so will need to strip more down if the radio serial is needed).

Will the ecus hold the information (mapping) that has been built up?

Is it likely that problems will occur after reconnection.

If the general consensus is you will have problems is it possible to hold voltage with a AC/DC source- battery charger, I do nit have a spare battery to hook on. Had to do this on previous SEAT.

Any respons appreciated.

Re: battery remove - radio codes etc

No problem with code - you can leave battery disconnected for hours.

You will lose all mileage trip info though.

yep your spot on, the only time ive seen the code needed to be entered is when ive swapped the stereo over with another stilos stereo (fault finding on another car another story). but when ive put them back no code was asked for.
am i correct that the stereo is paired up with the cars computer?

Re: battery remove - radio codes etc

Thanks very much for your prompt and informative replies.

One day I will start to use the facilities offered with the various functions. It took me a week to turn the radio on, partly because the car is so quiet.

Many thanks again
