General 2 year service????

My 1.6 Dynamic is due this very soon I called up and was quoted £175 at most as they said. Pretty sure it involves the following at major areas least:

- oil and filter change
- New air filter
- New spark plugs
- Diagnostic check on the Fiat Examiner
- Visual inspection of car including brakes etc.
- Usual fluid check and top up and so on.
- Probably other bits and pieces.

cmc - where did you get the £175 price from?

I have been told its £215.00 incl vat, labour and parts.

The service is 2 hours and involves for a 1.6 dynamic with air con:
engine oil change
new oil filter
new air filter
new spark plugs
general inspection

Is it me or is this a total rip off?

I've been told £215 from Caledonia in Blackburn, Lancashire, I can't believe the price can vary so much, must be more expensive in the North West, can't see why its crap down here!!

I think I'll ring round a few more dealers. It'll prob end up costing more, their bound to say it needs something which isn't covered by warranty.

Thanks for your reply.

i was told 175 plus 15 quid for the pollen filter.......just wanted to make sure i was'nt getting stung.
looks like i aint so i'll book it in.

the pollen filter is the thing that is situated on the lower part of the central console ... somewhere lower than the ashtray ?

This will make you laugh.

Instead of the £220 that I was quoted for the 24k service on my Stilo Abarth, I bought a Bosch Pollen Filter (£5.16), Bosch Super 4 Spark Plugs (£7.98), Bosch Oil Filter (£3.10) and some fully synthetic oil and had my local garage service the car (£20).

I then took the car to the Fiat Dealership for some warranty work and asked them to reset the service counter (£0).

I make that a £36 service and my warranty is still valid.

Draw your own conclusions as to how much the Dealership makes on a service.

Hi

Can someone just clear this up for me?

How does the warranty thing work now? What is the current status? I understand you can use independants, is this correct? I'd like to be 100% sure before doing anything that would invalidate my warranty.

Thanks.

see my post on an earlier thread https://www.fiatforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8127&SearchTerms=,VAT

Basically as long as you get it registered with parts of equivalent quality to Fiat at a VAT registered independent your warranty is still valid.
