Buggerski! :bang: The Misses was driving the car the other day and had put the drivers electric seat forward to get access to the rear, as you would. She placed a plastic box in the rear passengers footwell and moved the seat to the upright position, again as you do. so the seat starts to move, as it should back to its previously set drivers position. However this rather sturdy plastic box got sandwiched between the chair and the rear bench, cracking the outer plastic cover on the side of the seat that covers the electric motor:cry: . Cracked it right off! I'm surprised that the seat didn't cut out before this hapened  , it has cut out in the past when it has become obstructed, as it stops and moves fully forward. Not this time. So the upshot is I need a new trim cover for the drivers outer electric motor cover.

Any ideas?

i would be more concerned about a faulty chair!

if that much pressure on a plastic box can do that damage to the seat imagine what it could do to a passenger? if you say it used to stop then maybe a dodgy sensor?

Yes you have a very good point on that one. It was a heffty plasic box mind you, it was a black and decker drill case. To be fair though, it looks like the box has not been sitting straight and has sort of peeled the plastic trim away then snapped it. Its not the most srudy of trim.

Buy new one or leave it, Mmmm, yup you could be right! OK I've been back out and the seat is cutting out under pressure. I've tried it several times at various settings, adjusted the seats height and position several times and it is cutting out as it should so god knows how she managed to screw it up!:bang:

Yes, unfortunately, breakages will happen, they're part of how a new car gets old ;)

The test is probably to see if any rear seat passengers can spot the broken piece. No rear seat passengers - no problem!

I think I'd leave it until the car is old and there are loads in wreckers - then you can find a replacement trim more easily :)

Of course, if a similar piece broke on my 18-year-old Uno, it would be a different story - it'd be replaced within 24 hours!
