I put key into ignition, turned it once so it could perform check
and then tried to turn the engine on, it would not turn :( it was
as if a steering lock was on. The only way to get it started was to
bypass check by turning it twice.

I'm getting new "Body Computer" installed on Tuesday, so hopefully
this may fix it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ?

I had the same thing when I drove through a car wash. Or actually I turn the engine off at the beginning, and the rollers pull the car through the washing machine.

At the end I tried to start the engine but the key didn't turn. The machine spat my car out into a downhill slope and less than 10 meters to a fence so there's little time to turn left of right. Luckily I had the ignition on so I could still steer the car.
Someone probably would have panicked and crashed into the fence with steering lock on.

It took about 20 seconds until it let me turn the key.

I imagine the water sprays or the air blow at the end set up some kind of safety thing in the engine.

I think it may be something to do with the immobiliser. I've had it on other cars where if you leave the key in position 1 for more than (say) 20 seconds you can't then continue to turn the key to start the car.

This sort of things happens when you sit with the engine off but want to listen to the radio. The easiest way around this is to turn the ignition off, remove the key and start again (mind you, not the easiest thing to do in a moving car wash!)
