Hi guys

I positive the bushes need doing but when any weight is in the rear of the stilo at all the suspension starts to scrape along on the passenger side.

Am I right to presume this is likely rear shocks? Height when the car has no weight is fine but when anything is added in the rear it looks like the rear has been lowered. Might be wise to buy both shocks and springs?

She's still ticking on and the Volvo I bought to replace has been more of a pain so time to invest some time and effort in to her. Old reliable.

Thanks in advance guys.

i disagree with the shock theory, sorry.

The shock does nothing to determine the ride height of the car. The shock's only purpose in life is to absorb the energy from suspension movement and dissipate this energy, so the car doesn't bounce forever on the springs.

It is the suspension spring that is responsible for the ride height. Hence why if you want to lower your car, you fit lowering springs. Lowering springs are also typically stiffer to allow less movement to compensate for the loss in ride height - bit I digress.

I suspect mate, you've either got the wrong springs fitted, like you've got the springs to a 3 door fitted to your estate (example) - although I would find this unlikely. The other option is you've got a broken spring.

My money would be on broken spring. I'd guess either one of the coils has collapsed or it's just clean snapped in half.

I agree with artermis on this one 100%.. dead easy to replace too... 30min job with two jacks and some axel stands.

Hang on... if its the sw model then i could be wrong about how quick it is... but on the 3dr and 5dr its a quick swap... also replacing shocks is very quick job on 3dr and 5dr... sw rear shocks are not vertical and i have not done a set of these yet.
