Hello,

If the Gearbox Mount is modified as shown in the picture what will be the results?

Just buy a new one... there less than £20 here in the uk and its the rear / lower stabiliser... stops strain on the other mounts and also stops strain on the manicat and downpipe.

If it doesn't hold up... you will crack the downpipe on the welds to the cat... happened to me 3 times.

I know it is not expensive. I just want to make it more stiff. With this modification it is really stiffer. It is fixing the gearbox very well and reducing the vibrations. It allows less movements according the orginal one and damping the vibrations improving the driving comfort. Therefore it will not crack downpipe or cat welds. (At leat hope so :) )

But making it like this (less allowable movements) what may it can cause?

This modification solves Occassional jerk / stutter when removing acceleration

Fiat will have developed the original part to allow for the bare minimum movement for the minimum amount of NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). If you make this mount stiffer, you will increase NVH.

I don't think it will cause any problems in itself. That rubber stuff is still flexible after all... and the Fiat engineers would probably have used a similar stiffness themselves, if they were making a Coupe for example, rather than a family hatchback.

If you stiffen up ALL the mounts in the same way, you might need to invest in a dental plan (all your teeth fillings will fall out). :D
