Hours spent on this but having no luck.

So i took out the old unit and followed instruction to wire the new unit up using the wires that come with the after market stereo.

I have a Fiat Stilo 04 and i order and cover plate and stereo from ebay. Both come with cables to help attach. Clear instruction... wire to wire.. connected fine.





It was simple to connect together, and it powered on first time... but no sound.

Check every connection a thousand times, spent hours on google and i cant work out why.

So i plugged old stereo in and the speaker fired up perfectly, so then i put the new on back on and nothing?

I just cannot work out why?

I have read about an amp that needs turning on. But my other stereo works fine.

You see i dont know what i am talking about so i find it hard to read about these things.

The Fascia come with a fiat stilo cable and i connected the wire to each other - colour for colour as said bu the hand book

Also each speaker wire - plus i have checked these all 1000 times!

so here are the other ends of the wires that come with the Fascia - connected to the wires thar connected into the original stereo

and here you can see it has powered on .... but no sound

you might notice a blue wire taped off - instruction said dont use that wire as its an old Ariel thing...

this is how the connector is wired up from standard although you seem pretty sure you have done it right and tbh ISO connections are usually like for like. worth 1001 checks though

failing that id say you new HU is broken. sounds silly but make sure the volume is up and you havent hit Mute... theres not a lot of stuff left.

from the looks of it you have it wired right...

next question is does it play anything that isnt on the SD card... IE does it play radio or a normal (not copied)CD?

hi richydraper - Its has no CD player - I dont use CDs hence why i wanted a more digital one. Only tried SD - They forget to send the Radio Ariel adapter - should be here by tomo. I gonna go try the AUX and USB now - see if they do anything. Thanks for the idea

the only thing im thinking is you may have to have a certain type of MP3.

some cheap HU probably wont support VBR or higher bitrates, it should be documented in the manual.

i remember my old Kenwood HU didnt like '+R' cd/dvds it had to be '-R' took me ages to figure it out it also wouldnt play VBR MP3s they HAD to be CBR. a quick read throught the manual would have saved me about 15 discs and a LOT of hours

tried and nothing - dont even get a static sound from the radio.

and yea i understand what you mean about the mp3 side of things - but it would have worked on the aux

i wonder if the amp inside the HU is busted

i dont know what else you can try if im honest, maybe wait untill aerial adapter turns up but i wouldnt hold out much hope of it magically working.

it might be an idea to look into exchanging the unit

no i have nothing other than the 4 speakers
