Hello People

Fiat stilo 1.6 new stereo idea? Would it work though?

I've searched around for about a hour now and couldn't find anything on what I was looking for the closes I could find was about the NAV+ but not exactly what I was looking for,

Anyways guys I was wondering is it possible to fit a stereo (like shown below) into a 2002 1.6 stilo? And would the display still say CD Tack 2 on the dashboard with a new stereo?

I've always liked these kind of stereos because there good for pretty much everything? Films for the kids on a long journey? Sat Nav for going new places? And of course a stereo to play my music, but would this stereo fit and work properly on a stilo? As I don't want to spend a bomb for something that's not going to work?

Was just wondering has anyone installed one before and how was it?

Had one of them all in one radios fitted with GPS, DVD player, and so on with the Pop up display?

I'm going to be fitting a double din to my JTD, basically the same idea but without the fancy fold out screen. As long as you have all the leads it should be plug and play apart from the need for an egnision live and the lead the goes to the hand break so you can't watch dvds while driving.

Cheers for that can you let me know how it goes in your JTD please? So everything bar the DVD player will work?

well you can by-pass the hand brake thing but for legal reasons its not advised.

I will let you know how I get on but the only issue I foresee is the ignition live and that's nothing to sweat over really, its just a case of running a wire from the ignition barrel to the head unit with a fuse in, I will take pics for you fella.

Thank you guys! Means a lot! And thank you for the link to the thread!
And how easy would it be to bypass? I'm not really to fussed about the DVD function as I can't watch it I'm driving obviously lol but just be nice for the kids and missus as it'll keep them quite so come on guys what beats a nice quite woman and kids Lol

And thank you I can't wait to see your results :)

Hi,
The handbrake DVD inhibit is easy to over-ride. However if the DVD screen can be seen from the drivers seat it contravenes the Road Vehicle Construction and Use Regulations 1986 No. 1078 PART IV F Regulation 109

"09. (1) No person shall drive, or cause or permit to be driven, a motor vehicle on a road, if the driver is in such a position as to be able to see, whether directly or by reflection, a television receiving apparatus or other cinematographic apparatus used to display anything other than information—

(a) about the state of the vehicle or its equipment;
(b) about the location of the vehicle and the road on which it is located;
(c) to assist the driver to see the road adjacent to the vehicle; or
(d) to assist the driver to reach his destination."

Note that you don't have to be caught watching it. That would be too difficult to prove. Just having a system that could work when driving is an offence.
The handbrake inhibit is your defence against this charge.
Note that some player will just blank the front screen while maintaining an output to drive rear seat screens.
I won't tell you how to over-ride the inhibit as I don't know if that would make me an accessory before the fact.

Sorry it's not such good news.
Robert.

Thank Robert for the heads up on that!

I think I'll just buy portable DVD players for the back and save myself abit of money by just getting a Pop out radio with everything bar the DVD player
