Can anyone advise me on what fuel consumption i should expect on a 115Jtd i am only averaging 31mpg and i think this is poor. Also my jtd runs on Fiat 17" alloys but has very poor understeer at low speeds can, any advise on tyre pressures. Reversable power fixes would also be nice at the right price. My car is six months old and has done 3000 miles

I'm not sure about the 115 but I have the 80 now for 2 weeks and the trip reads 49mpg. When I first got the car from new it read 15mpg. I understand the 115 is meant to be more frugal than the 80.
Also I installed one of these http://www.dieselchiptuning.com/catalog/default.php for an extra 25bhp and 45nm of torque, it pulls much better now.

Your average of 31mpg - Is this what the computer says or what you have worked out? The computer can be a bit up and down. Do the calcs yourself if you haven't and see what consumption you are really getting....

Not long after I picked up my car I created an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of my fuel consumption. All I do is enter how many miles I have done and how much fuel I put in and the spreadsheet does the rest. :)

I have done something similar.

I've noticed that the computer in the car always seems a bit pessamistic. It always reckons about 25-26mpg where as I work it out to be nearer 29mpg.

Never mind eh?

I haven't created an Excel file to check consumption, that is to advanced for me :D However, by just checking the trip computer I'm not that happy... It indicates a consumption of 7.9 lt/100 km and that is significantly higher than the consumption of my older car (6.5 lt/100 km), which it was 2.0 lt GSI and it had 200000 km, so in theory it should consume much more! Indeed I noticed that I fill almost twice per week the Stilo with petrol, while for the same journey I was filling my old one only once per week!

I bought my stilo jtd at the beginning of August and just done 2500 miles in it, the fuel consumption is currently at 45.5mpg so i think thats quite okay it's the first diesel i have had in 16 years of driving and i'm more than happy with the performance and consumption of the car.

Gfotopou - Can you give some example figures to me and I'll work out your 'real' fuel consumption. The Fiat computer's seem to give a bad picture in a lot of cases. [:(!]

Tell me:
1. How much you pay per litre for your fuel
2. How much it costs to fill your car up
3. How many miles/kms you get from the cost of no 2.

I'll do the calcs for you. I can also send you the spreadsheet if that's easier!

Thanks Roja :) Let me see what information I could give you (the truth is that I haven't followed very carefully until now):

1. The price that I usually pay here is about 1.28 CHF/lt
2. It costs between 55 and 60 Frs to fill up the car.
3. That's the difficult question, because I haven't looked at it. Let me do some maths. I have the car for 36 days and I have done 4500 km. That makes an average of 125 km/day. I fill the car more than once per week but less that 2 times. So let's say that I use approximately a full tank and a half of petrol per week or in other words almost 83 CHF per 875 km. My fast calculation gives 7.4 lt/100 km (wow not bad for a biologist :D). Am I right?

Roja if you could send me the Excel sheet I could look at it more carefully in the future. I would expect a little lower consumption since my kms are mostly on national road...
