Yeah - very hard to see if oil is running down from the oil filter (it's mounted in a cradle) but it's quite likely for oil to run down from somewhere and run around/collect on the sump flange. This makes it look as though the sump 'gasket' is leaking when it's not. I suggest cleaning the flange with degreaser and a brush, rinse well, and then when oil appears at a certain spot, look up to see if you can find oil above.
Mine had a particularly interesting little oil leak from the intake manifold. It's also possible that it was oil spilled during topping-up. This dripped onto a rubber hose that was part of the cooling system. Once the rubber had softened enough, it became no longer part of the cooling system and blew apart. The oil/emulsified rubber was leaving small traces around the back edge of the sump. The sump edge has stayed clean since I cleaned it. Never did really find the leak but I've covered the replacement hose with foil tape in case it gets dripped on again.
Meanwhile I had another small coolant leak from the two oil cooler/heat exchanger pipes on the front of the block - one of the factory-fitted clamps was somehow loose!
If you do reseal the sump flange, I suggest " Threebond Solventless Sag-type Silicone Sealant " (grey), made in Japan. Texture, adhesion, and cured strength are excellent. Pricier than the usual aftermarket Permatex/Loctite, but Threebond is an OEM supplier to the Japanese car/commercial vehicle industry and they don't waste time with products that don't work.
