I've just had a full cam belt kit and water pump fitted to my '53 motor.

I bought the bits for £107 from Euro car parts and the fitting cost me £100!

To me that sounds like a RESULT!!

What you say?

Yep, that's a bargain, half of what I'm paying! Main dealer though.

My JTD 115 is in the garage today, picking up tomorrow, having the cam-belt, tensioners and water pump done, along with oil and filter, air filter, air-con recharged and the tracking done to straighten the steering wheel.

Car runs pretty well but like many older cars the service history went a bit vague and not having owned the car long wanted to start off on a sound footing, particularly with regard to the cam-belt.

Next on the list will be a tow-bar and matching tyres! :)

Was quoted £389 plus the dreaded VAT. for cam-belt, tensioners and water pump.

But the bill was actually less than expected because even with the oil and filter (quoted £70) and air filter (quoted £39) it came to £413.59 plus VAT.

Quite a bit for a 10 year old car but at least I know the important things have been done now and future services will be mainly oil and filter, though the brake fluid will need doing in the none too distant future as well.

I'm in Sheffield.

Got it done at a local garage that I've used for years.

I'm not saying the labour charge would be the same for anyone but I suspect it wouldn't be a deal more.

OK, I'll be more specific as clearly the implication wasn't enough of an implication.

Should anyone in Sheffield/willing to travel to Sheffield, want me to find out how much it would be to fit a new belt etc to their vehicle, I will gladly do so.

Please, please all except my apologies - I will now continue with my corporal mortification for my sin.
