Hi guys,
Peculiar problem here. With the air conditioning on, the car runs perfectly.

But I have noticed, that with the air con off, it jerks and sometimes cuts out. When I switch the air con off at idle, the revs drop slightly, but the air conditioning itself does not switch off. I've left it off for ages, thinking it would still be cool, but it remains ice cold for the duration of my drive until I switch the engine off and on again, then it's actually off.

Confusing problem, anyone else experienced this? Not that it's a major issue, I just leave the air con on all the time.

check the dual pressure switch on top of the dryer at the right side of the radiator - it will probably have a problem with sticky contacts.
You can change the switch without the need of refilling your R134A coolant - there is a valve under the switch which closes automatically when you remove the switch.
These switches sometimes tend to produce some partial short circuits which can cause all kinds of engine ecu trouble like rough running/idling or cut-outs.
