NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! not chips away - they're a rip off!!!!

I had a small repair done in exactly the same place - tiny dent and scratch (probably from a trolley or car door). Anyway got one of these repair blokes out in his van. 1 hour and £40.00 later jobs a good one!!! cant tell at all!

I rekon my repair would cost more due to it requiring a bit of light filling!!!so I'd say around £40.00ish. Dont try it yourself it will look a mess unless your a pro!!

Well chipsaway just left and did a cracking job!! Sorted out a few other chips, gave the bonnet a polish and I can't tell that I ever scratched the car now.

All for just over 80 quid!.

Lets hope ive learnt my lesson now!

Stan..
Nice one Stanley, i'll keep that in mind if im ever in need of a scratch repair..
How did they get rid of it so convincingly ?

Would it be worth getting these guys to do small stone chips around the wheel arches when they appear ?

KoArAnG,

They just did a very good job and I was impressed with there work. As for chippings the guy also gave me a pot of paint for my car so when I do get any more chippings I can sort them out myself. I personally think that would be the best thing to do and then give it a good polish after the paint drys. Can you get touch up metallic paint for your car??

Stan..

I have used Chips Away quite a few times (don't ask why) and they have always done a very good job and you can't see any difference in the colour match. They also use special paints which dry quickly and can be applied in lower temperatures than normal paint.

I had a new BMW 5 series which I sold when it was just over 2 years old. The bonnet and wings had to be sprayed because some little **** put a key all down the front of it and down the side while it was parked outside the BMW garage about to be collected by me. They obviously paid for the work as I hadn't even collected it yet, but after a few months I clipped the rear bumper on a post and got chips away to fix it. When I sold it, the buyer had a RAC inspection and he noted the front respray (BMW garage) and didn't even pick up on the bumper repair by "Chips Away". The same story applied to a 3 series when I damaged the front bumper by hitting a tow bar on the car in front at a set of traffic lights (foreign driver just stopped on a green light and then drove off), the buyer had a AA report and they didn't pick up on the repair at all.

Just in case you think I have bad luck with my BMW's it gets worse, when I went to collect the BMW 5 Series they told me about the vandal damage and said I could have a courtesy car while they fixed it. The salesman disappeared off to get the courtesy car and I noticed that he kept walking around the forecourt (it was quite a big dealership) looking confused. Anyway after 10 minutes he returned with his manager and said he couldn't find the car. They disappeared again to have another look and still couldn't find it. After about 30 minutes they decided to lend me one of the sales people's cars instead. When I spoke to the salesman a couple of days later to re-arrange getting my car after the repair, he apologised and explained that the courtesy car he had organised had been stolen off the forecourt in the morning and when they reviewed the CCTV tapes the car was just lifted onto a tow truck in broad daylight during business hours just before I arrived. They never got it back and it was a brand new 325 Series Compact 'M' Sport.

Just to top it off, when I got them to service the car a few months later, the collection driver went through a speed camera doing a ridiculous speed in a 30mph zone and promptly left the garage to go overseas (not because of the speeding ticket). Fortunately I could proove it wasn't me driving because I was working at Pinewood Studio's and the security guys log all the cars in and out.
