My remote central locking has decided to stop working, i've checked the fuses and i've left the battery disconnected over night the led on the key fob is working and i've replaced the battery. Next step is to plug in my fiat ecu scanner but i'm wondering which section on the software deals with the central locking?

To top it off i can't get in the boot of my stilo without the remote working not very good when you're a carpenter and all your tools are in your boot!!!!:bang:

well i figured out how to recode the key but i can't do it until i get hold of my key code from fiat for my car, went in yesterday and gave my details just got to wait till they hear back from the place they had to contact to get it.

i've also found out why my boot wasn't working.... the microswitch in the handle has died.

any one know where i can get hold of the microswitch on it's own as fiat want £60 for it!

have rigged up a temp bit of cable which i can use to short out the release mechanism when i need to get into my boot and ran the cable up to under the passenger seat i'm going to connect a proper boot release switch to that and fit it the the plastic by the hand brake as an alternative method of opening the boot.

i hate fiat! i went to sgm fiat in park gate asked them for the key code paid my £22 quid and was told the guy would let me know the code the next day i get a phone call this morning and the he tells me they can't get hold of the code the international secrurity register hasn't got it and i get given the number for ciao fiat i phone this number and get told that my local dealer should have the code and to phone the international security register myself so i phone them and this guy tells me that the dealership need to contact the developement sales manager and that they should already know this.

phone up sgm again and the guy there tells me he'll speak to his manager and get back to me.

so far for a 5 digit code i've paid £22 driven 20 miles and spent about £5 on phone calls:bang:

all because a code card which should come with your car when you buy it new is thrown in the bin when it comes into the country.(n)

Key code please help

please can some one help me i've tried getting my stilo keycode from my local dealers(sgm fiat in southampton) i've tried the security register i've tried phoning fiat uk and i'm not getting any where fast.:(

where can i get it from if my local dealers won't help me? they charged me £22 quid then told me they can't get hold of it and now they won't even bother returning my calls. don't want to waste another £20 quid at another useless dealer.:bang:

well that's usefull i started a new thread asking for help with my key code and it gets bunged in with this one? i searched for threads for key code info and no one seems to know anything about them i can't be the first person to have trouble getting hold of their code can i?

i'll just carry on talking to myself then shall i?:bang:

It got "bunged in with this one" because your new thread is the same subject as your previous one.

I suspect the reason nobody has responded to you (despite 113 people viewing your thread) is because, for security reasons, the only way to get the key code is from a dealer. You've already tried that unsuccessfully.

first of all if they have failed to supply the service then you need to get your money back of them, demand your money back from them - if you get no where make a complaint to fiat uk (you should have a recipt).
Fiat uk has usually been very helpful when problems with dealers arise, they dont like the fiat brand tarnished so should help you out. if they dont i suppose you can make an offical complaint to the OFT - but i cannot imagine it going that far.
there are some crumby dealers about as ive found out over the years, you just need to find a good one and stick with them. Ring around to other dealers in your area and see if they can supply the code. many of us have done it over the years so its not impossible. Another thing to try is dealerships that have lost the franchise, sometimes they still stock fiat parts and can be very helpful if there is a good on in your area. this can be very handy if you dont have a dealer local to you.

Re: Key code please help

the code can be read from your body computer by a locksmith specialist - depending on the equipment they have it may be nessesary to remove the bodycomputer for reading it's eeprom .
When you can have it read by someone who is familiar with car electronics i can give you the code by reading the file.

well it took them a while but sgm fiat in southampton got there in the end, got a phone call this morning and the the guy at sgm gave me the code, haven't tried it with my fiatecu scan yet but hopefully it will work and i'll be able to use my remote central locking again.

total cost £22 plus about 15 phone calls and one trip to sgm.

but if it works i'm happy.:)

Seemed like a frustrating couple of weeks there! But at least the ball has rolled a bit now :p

What I was wanting to ask was your boot - can you not open your boot manually? Only using the key fob? Obviously you have your little wiring do da in there but before that? I can't open my boot without first pressing the boot release on the key fob. Is this what you had? If so can you tell me how you wired in that new release thing? :D

my multiwagon is the earlier version with no key hole in the boot so you can't manually use a key to unlock it and open it.

to open my boot i used to be able to pull the handle it would make a clicking noise and then open, but the microswitch in the handle died a while ago and i didn't get round to replacing it. since then i've been using the remote keyfob to open the boot. then that died.:bang:

i rigged up a temp switch quite easily once i'd opened the boot using my laptop and fiat ecu scan. all i did was remove the lower large black plastic inside panel on the boot lid then traced the cables to where the old microswitch went to, tested the switch to make sure it was duff then spliced into the wires that went to the switch with some speaker cable then fed that cable up through the rest of the boot lid through the rubber grommet and into the head lining down the side under the rear pasenger seat and eventually got it under the passenger seat couple of spade connectors on the end and attached it to a switch. now if in an emergency i need to open the boot i just flick the switch and the boot pops open. much easier than the fiat method of crawling through you boot and jamming the fiat screwdriver into the boot lock which apparently makes it pop open... screw that for a laugh.

i might get round to replacing the original microswitch in the handle but to be honest i'm not that fussed on the original design because on one occasion my bootlid microswitch decided to click and open itself while i was on a roundabout and flung half my tools out the back!

forgot to say the code sgm gave me worked fine and i managed to reprogramme my remote key fob this morning and all is working as it should.

if any one needs their key reprogrammed and your any where near southampton all i would need is your keycode and i could do it for you.(y)

Hi guys I guess I am experiencing the same fault? Central locking was working all of a sudden it no longer unlocks the car (1.9 jtd sporting). Light on key fob flashes- anything else to try before taking it to a garage? There doesn't seem to be a fuse which relates to the central locking only the boot? Thanks David

Which of the above methods have you already tried?
.

Well the only other methods seem to be a fuse- which fuse is this I can only see a fuse listed for the boot not central locking. Will check this fuse. The key fob is still lighting up the led so shouldn't be the battery.

Is the code supplied with the car when you first buy it or you have to go through the dealer to get this?

Merry Christmas :)

update at last

I had to get the key's recoded and not a problem since,
hope this helps other people out there....

Kind Regards
