Hi,
Fist posting, hope someone can help.
Wifes car started acting up last week. Loss of power, kangerooing, surging forward when releasing throttle, very poor tick over, which would eventually cut out. Tick over fluctuates between 1100 and down as low as 350 before cutting out. Did a scan and showed that the engine temp sensor was faulty, purchased new and fitted, no difference.Did some reading up on various forums and it was it pointed to a faulty MAF sensor. Have since purchaed and fitted but no difference. Removed throttle body cleaned but was quite clean anyway. Changed plugs and air filter, still no difference. When scanning now it is shown that the engine is running lean fault P0171.
Have checked for air leaks and good air supply, cannot see anything at all. Can anyone throw any light as to what may be the problem. I really dont want to take it Fiat. I have thought that the MAF sensor could be faulty but no errors present. Does any one have any ideas?
Much appreciated
Paul

Don't know which 1.6 you are refering to but the 1.6 16V Stilo does have a MAF sensor. I have purchased one and fitted it.

Hi Gerhadij, you were correct. The pre-cat Lambda sensor was faulty. Have purchased new Lambda sensoe NGK, fitted it this morning and all is good. Have just taken it for its MOT and has passed emmissions test with flying colours.
Thanks for your imput, much appreciated.

There's deffinately no MAF on the 1.6, I just checked the ePER to confirm. I'm not sure what you brought and installed but it wasn't a 1.6(16v) MAF Sensor.

Yes, one for the "Boertjies"

No problem, that's what the forum is there for.

Did the sensor came out easily? If so then it was replaced not to long ago, as they tend to sort of fuse into the threat the older they get.
