Re: Bottom Engine Mount

Hi, part no1 has three teeth underneath. I somehow broke one of them. Is this a problem or should I replace the support part?

Re: Bottom Engine Mount

i'm 99% sure that tooth doesn't matter.

Part 2 is what I changed on mine (2004 1.6 petrol), was easy to do on ramps, or might have been axle stands.

I actually PU Sealant-ed up the old part as it was just the rubber bushing that failed. So I have one for free when it goes again :-)

Also, after the two bolts were out I struggled taking it out, but then realised it pushed out towards the BACK of the car, and it was dead easy

Re: Bottom Engine Mount

I have changed it also. However, i notice a slight bell type sound when I have to drive over a rough surface and I was wondering if it is related with that broken tooth

Part no1 is the gearbox mount. One more question, what is the purpose of the three teeth?

Re: Bottom Engine Mount

The teeth are designed to snap off if the mounting gets hit. Otherwise an impact would stress the mounting, which is part of the engine or gearbox casing. You probably don't want that to snap off instead.

My JTD has a similar "dangly" on it's gearbox casing. I can assure everyone that it also works..

Otherwise I try not to hit the speed bumps. After I "tested" mine, it made me go and investigate what was going on.. the same hump had never given me such a big "hit" before. It turned out that one of my suspension springs was snapped, so the car was a bit softer on the front.

All Stilos had the middle undercover when they left the factory, but many garages "forget" to put them back after working on the car.

the one on my JTD was 'missing', very hard to find a replacement unless you go for the aftermarket ones.

Re: Bottom Engine Mount

Oh I see... I've never found this on my car, assuming it's used, maybe it got lost on the way to me.
