After not driving my Abarth 52 plate for 2 days, I took it out for a spin last night. On startup, it was idling quite rough, jerking idle so to speak. Whilst driving, it was also driving jerkingly and if I planted my foot down as soon as I went past 30-40mph engine management came on flashing.

If I drove slowly no engine managemnt but was still jerking. Once parked up, I could smell fuel, as if it was burning rich. Wondering if it not "firing on all cylinders"?

Any ideas?

When MIL is flashing in this situation, this mean misfire on some cylinder. For sure. What engine do you have? If it is 1.6 petrol check ignition coils and spark plugs.

So the same - check spark plugs and ign. coils. Try to pull out wires from ign. coils one by one - when there is no change in engine run, then you find the faulty cylinder.

Ok will try that. So have the engine running and one by one take coil out see if any difference, put back in until find one which does make a difference I assume.

Yes, but when pull out wires and engine sounds more rough, this means this cylinder is ok, and when pull out wires and no change - this means this cylinder already didnt fired, so you did find the wrong cylinder.
