Hey,

Just wanted to know if you've had a re-map on your Stilo and what difference it made to your insurance assumingyou told your insurer ;)

I'm considering a re-map (I have a 1.9 JTD Dynamic 115) and wanted to know a rough idea of cost to do it and how much it'd affect insurance afterwards.

And - is it worth it?! :D

if its an ecu remap i wouldn't bother telling them. would they be able to tell?

and yes it is well worth it

I'm not sure if they'd be able to tell...a lot of speculation around this with people saying that insurance companies just wouldn't check or whether they would actually be ABLE to find out if they did go looking...I don't really know either way :)

It all depends on your age and insurance provider. Im with sky insurance and can just add things for an admin fee i believe. It didnt cost me any extra to add my mods.
Most insurances will rape you. especially if your young.

So I'm guessing I will get a pretty hefty charge...I'm 21 so I'm not really classed as 'safe' yet by most insurers ;) DESPITE driving for like 4 years...I'll have to see what Admiral's policy is for modifications, especially performance mods.

Just ring and ask mate. I asked about a tuning box and it cost zero extra! Bonus! Telling them about modifications is a no brainer. They MIGHT not find the map in the event of an accident/theft/etc.....But what are you going to do if they DO find it and turn round to tell you your insurance is void?? Your in a world of pain then!! Dont risk it.

Yeah true...gotta weigh it up! Gonna look into it when I've got the money hopefully pretty soon. I'm always up-front with insurance anyway, my premium isn't too bad so I'm guessing it won't rise too much if it does :)
