re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

Hopefully, that's another Stilo quirk resolved then. If the external earth wire resolved the problem, it would suggest that the pull up resistor inside the BC wasn't doing it's job. Fiat dealer would have said you need a new BC.

@ frciy86 ...Out of interest, was connector B blue?

re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

hopefully this weekend I will have some time to take some pics..the rest is really easy..
@Davren yes the B connector was blue, the other one was white. In reality there are 2 connector hold together by a blue colored plastic body with a retain clip (this connects in the body comp) on it and inside this is the connector B , blue colored and the other white connector.
Thanks Davren thanked for this post

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

SOLVED in other WAY:

0) Maybe this step is not necessary but: set valid alarm type in BC ( mine is 0 - no alarm ) - you need a ELM & ECUSCAN.

Turn the key to the OFF position and close all doors ( leave the bonnet open only ).
[ for safety leave some windows open or take the second key to the pocket ]

1) Take the PLUS wire out form the akku ( leave the EARTH/ZERO connected to akku ) [ car died ]
2) Turn the key on to the MAR position [ car is still dead ] and close door.
3) Put the PLUS wire back to the akku [ car is back to business, some sparks can appear when connecting the wire ].

And problem should be SOLVED !

About DOOR CLOSING. I don't know if it's necessary but some errors can be cancelled by turn key to the MAR on with all doors closed ( hood, etc ).
( I cancelled Fuel Filter error in this way , cause I forgot to plug the wire back to the filter and have turned the engine on)

For the record, this method worked for me

I was reading the previous post but what do you mean by this
1) Take the PLUS wire out form the akku ( leave the EARTH/ZERO connected to akku ) [ car died ]
2) Turn the key on to the MAR position [ car is still dead ] and close door.
3) Put the PLUS wire back to the akku [ car is back to business, some sparks can appear when connecting the wire ].

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

Guessing that as the Polish for battery is akumulator, akku = battery.

MAR position is the first position on the ignition switch, dashboard lights on but engine not started.

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

Sorry to re-open this thread. I have this error now, it popped up when i disconnected the battery. My car doesn't have a switch or an alarm, but these diagrams are hard to understand. Has anyone got a picture of what the body computer looks like and where is located in the car please?

Body computer is the grey box attached to the back of the dashboard fuse box.

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

Thanks for that. Atleast I know for next time. I managed to sort it. I looked at my alarm settings using FES and it was set to 2 when it should have been 0 because I had no alarm. I had to also disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to make the error go away too.

So for anyone having this problem who don't have a bonnet switch or alarm:

1. Use Fiat ECU scan to set alarm mode to 0 (Diabled)
2. Disconnect and re-connect negative terminal on the battery
3. Job done!

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

Just finished changing sidelights (what an absolute pain in the a*se that was) and this error popped up.

Pleased to report that the battery disconnect method worked for me. And I set the alarm to 0 with MES, as an added measure. Error free now.

Re: Bonnet open error message [earth a BC pin]

I just had the bonnet open message come up on my stilo multiwagon jtd i fixed it by connecting it to my laptop with the fully registered multiecuscan connecting it to the body computer and disabling the alarm turning off the key then removing the battery neg lead then replacing it straight, away like it says in this thread i suppose its like rebooting a computer anyway after that everything was fine and still is

I think whats going on with these cars is that when the alarm has been selected in the multiecuscan software the BCM then looks for the alarm if there is not one fitted it throws up these messages i also recently had another message come up "Attempted Theft" all since i enabled the alarm so i think what i said is what could be going on

But to do all this you do have to enter the immobiliser code i managed to get mine from fiat i can now do all my own diagnostics great stuff
